A shiftless American expatriate named Calvin Godfrey founded Savor Saigon in 2018 hoping to build a life around eating Vietnamese food on the street. For a crisp Benjamin, he took visiting cooks, writers and eager travelers to his favorite places. Some of the places he found on his bicycle. Others rose out of the miasma of Vietnamese-language food websites and general chatter in Ho Chi Minh City. The best of his information (and his entire understanding of the cuisine) came from his now-wife, Nhàn Văn. The couple currently live happily-ever-after in the United States. But (when time permits) they still try to help eaters who are pure of heart via email and/or with the help of underemployed Vietnamese journalists. So why not try them?
